Annapolis Family Photographer | Waterfront Family Portrait Session

When I took some senior portraits for a young woman in her Whitehall Creek home a few weeks ago, her mother asked if I might come back to photograph the whole family. While I often take a couple of family shots at the end of a senior portrait session, Mom decided she wanted a separate full family session, and I was glad to come back another day. That gave us more time to spend together, creating memorable family portraits. We also could take the time we needed to use two venues as backgrounds.  

We started at their lovely Whitehall Creek home in Annapolis, capturing Mom, Dad, their five beautiful children, and the family dog. We posed everyone together outside with lots of greenery behind them. The background looked amazing with their coordinated outfits which combined jeans, neutrals, and shades of green. After several full family shots, we captured various pairings with Mom and baby or Dad and baby, to the young son and his obviously beloved pet. We got the toddler together with each parent, and I love the one where Mom is kissing her sweet little face. The wonderful picture of the son on Dad’s shoulders will bring back wonderful memories for them in years to come. We took portraits of several sibling pairs, too. From there everyone moved to in front of their house. The handsome front door, paving stones, and doorstep flowerpots looked great around the family group. 

At that point, we headed to their boat on the river in their backyard. Some of the family’s favorite memories have been made on the water, and they wanted me to capture the fun they’d had and would never forget. I got one shot from a neighbor’s pier, so it looked like they were out on the water.   I think the picture of everyone on the bow with the “Merry Christmas” banner probably went into or became their Christmas card. With five children, their life must be busy, but their love for each other comes through their eyes and happy smiles throughout the portraits. I hope you enjoy seeing these wonderful family portraits as much as I enjoyed taking them.
